Namibia Travel.

Namibia is a historical and wilderness destination. It encompasses views and scenery of compelling beauty, abundant sunshine and a feeling of unconfined space. A sense of freedom is generated by the vast horizons, the clear unpolluted skies and a population density which is among the lowest in the world.

This feeling of tranquillity and stillness combines with a landscape dominated by the clarity of light. Also, the diversity of its people creates a rich blend of cultures and traditions. The population is composed of several different ethnic groups, including the San, the Khoikhoi, the Herero, and the Ovambo as well as the small European community, mainly of Germans and Afrikaner extraction.

The dry winter season for travel (May to October) is the most pleasant time to visit the country. Extreme heat prevails in the western and northern areas between December and March. Swakopmund and coastal areas busiest during both Namibian and South African school holidays, which usually take place from mid-December to mid-January, late-April to early June, and late-August to mid-September.

This Namibia Travel guide has been designed to give all relevant information on geographical areas, types of safaris available must-see destinations and pertinent logistical data.
